Blind The Sky is a band with the mentality of “why not.”  Why can’t a rock band play what the music dictates instead of what is conventional?  The band has always found its strength going against the common grain.  Blind The Sky is a band like many others reincarnated from the ashes of previous bands.  The band was originally formed in 2008 by Dave Kelly and after a few changes Mike Hollander joined the group in 2010.  At this point the band began to get serious and finished their first self titled EP the next year.  In the next few years they lost their original drummer Daniel Holderer.  This provided a challenge since he left some big shoes to fill.  Dave and Mike began their first journey as a duo doing shows playing covers mixed with their originals.  They never stopped no matter what happened with other members.  Through the years they struggled to find the third piece of the puzzle.  After many attempts to get the right drummer they decided that they worked better as a duo.  This led to discoveries of ways to do a full band experience with only two people.  With Mike triggering drums on the fly mixed with synth/bass and Dave singing while playing guitar/synth with live looping.  This combination created the sound of a five piece band with two guys.  It created a huge organic sound blending many different soundscapes and textures.  With this new changed lineup the band went on to release their “Awakening”  EP in 2022 as well as a follow-up single “Live For This Moment” later that year.  They are currently working on a full length concept album entitled “Humanity” which will be available soon.

 

Dave has been playing guitar and singing most of his life in various different bands.  Dave is the lead vocalist, guitar/synth/looping player and is a major writing force in the group.  At the formation of Blind The Sky Dave started becoming influenced by electronic sounds blended with rock.  This led to his discovery of guitar synth which added a new dimension to the band’s sound.

 

Mike like Dave, has been playing guitar and bass in various different bands most of his life.  A lover of music, Mike has come to the theory that there is always great music out there in many genres.  You just have to look for it.  Mike plays bass/synth/drum triggering, sings backing vocals and adds a Zen-like approach to the music.
